(SurvivalDaily.com) – Your windowsill herb garden is coming along nicely. You’ve even had the opportunity to dry some herbs and get them stored in containers. Pat yourself on the back. Not only will your family eat fresher food, but your pocketbook will also thank you. The problem is, you want to start creating some homemade herb blends but aren’t sure where to start.
First, let’s listen to what America’s Test Kitchen has to say about fresh herbs versus store-bought.
Pretty insightful information there, and you can really see a difference in the color of fresh herbs compared to a store-bought blend. Imagine the taste.
Now it’s time to blend up some of your own herbs into a masterpiece. Italian seasoning is an all-time favorite, so let’s check out the recipe.
Italian Seasoning Recipe Ingredients
- 1/2 cup rosemary
- 1 cup basil
- 1/2 cup marjoram
- 1 cup oregano
- 1/2 cup thyme
- 1 tsp sage
- 4 tbsp garlic powder (or add fresh garlic when using the recipe in a freshly cooked dish)
Combine all ingredients in a glass jar. Then, shake it until blended. Label your mixture for future use and store it in the cabinet until needed. You can keep it there for up to a year.
