(SurvivalDaily.com) – COVID-19 has all but consumed many of our lives with lockdowns, curfews and social distancing, yet there are other illnesses, such as the common cold, that can ail us. Thankfully, the common cold isn’t as bad as it once was, and there are several ways to treat a cold at home.
Kicking off this short list of common cold home remedies is one many people would never think of: using pressure points to unblock your nose. Some other great options that may help relieve a cold at home are:
- Drinking ginger-lemon water
- Gargling warm saltwater
- Elevating your head at night
- Eating chicken soup
You can also make your own homemade chest rub using beeswax, coconut oil and peppermint, eucalyptus and sandalwood essential oils. Heat the beeswax and coconut oil. Once liquid, add in the essential oils and allow the mixture to cool, providing you with a nice chest rub.
Some people don’t believe home remedies work sufficiently, but they couldn’t be more wrong. Remember, if home remedies didn’t work, the knowledge wouldn’t have been passed down through generations.
Many people are blessed with having medicine right in their backyards. Check out these backyard plants that can have medicinal uses.
