(SurvivalDaily.com) – With winter well on its way, people are going to need to heat their homes. Of course, many of us have the power to heat ours with ease, but a storm can easily knock the power out. If you don’t have a backup way to heat your home, here’s how you can do it with a tin can.
Old soups cans can be reused in a number of ways, and one of them can even heat a room. To make this tin can heater, you’ll need cardboard, candle wax and (obviously) a tin can.
Cut the cardboard into strips that match the height of the can you’re using. Any tin can will work, even a short tuna can. Next, roll up the cardboard until it fits tightly into the can. Melt your candle wax, pour it over the top of the cardboard to fill the can and let it cool.
There you have it, a tin can heater. All you have to do now is light it when you need some heat, and it’s ready to go. Need a way to cook your food also? Check out how you can use a soup can to do that as well.
